Neues Museum Entry Ticket

Take line U5 to Museumsinsel station, then it is a short walk of around five minutes to the museum's entrance. Line U6 to Friedrichstraße is another option, followed by a longer walk across the Spree.

Lines S1, S2, S25 and S26 stop at Friedrichstraße, while S3, S5, S7 and S9 call at Hackescher Markt. Both stations are within walking distance of Museum Island, crossing one of the bridges over the Spree.

Trams M1 and 12 stop at Am Kupfergraben, right at the edge of Museum Island, while M1, M4, M5 and M6 also serve Hackescher Markt a little further away.

Bus lines stop near Lustgarten, Staatsoper and Friedrichstraße, all within a short walk of the museum's entrance on Museum Island.

Museum Island has no public parking of its own, so drivers are better off leaving the car near Alexanderplatz or in a nearby car park and continuing on foot or by public transport.

From Hackescher Markt, it is a pleasant walk of around ten minutes through Museum Island to reach the Neues Museum, passing several of Berlin's other museums along the way.

Its single most famous exhibit is the bust of Nefertiti, the ancient Egyptian queen, widely considered one of the most recognizable artworks from ancient Egypt. The museum also holds extensive Egyptian and prehistoric collections.

Beyond the bust of Nefertiti, the museum houses the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection and the Museum of Prehistory and Early History, with objects ranging from ancient Egyptian artifacts to prehistoric European finds.

The building was heavily damaged during the Second World War and stood in ruins for decades. Architect David Chipperfield led its reconstruction between 1999 and 2009, deliberately leaving some war-scarred walls and missing details visible rather than fully restoring them.
